Photo workshop!

This past weekend I was invited to join in a photography workshop that was put on by Columbus wedding photographers Kevin Keefer and Heather Claypool. It was a great day of learning and shooting!  It is so encouraging to know that there are successful photographers willing to share their knowledge and talent to help other aspiring photographers gain the skills and confidence needed to thrive in this business. As an artist, it is so important for me to learn as much as I possibly can from other photographers in order to be continually inspired and challenged. This workshop not only pushed me to be a more creative shooter, but also a better photographer for my clients.

Thanks again Kevin and Heather for putting together such a wonderful day for us, and for Kira and Jason our amazing models who put up with all nine of us at once!!

These past few weeks have been a roller coaster of emotions for me, beginning with the loss of my grandmother, Norma, to her battle with ovarian cancer on March 25th.  She was a wonderful and strong woman who loved the Lord and her family.  My husband and I have been traveling a lot, going back to WV for the past three weekends first to be with my grandmother in her final moments (a true blessing), then tragically for her funeral, and then for Easter.  Even though we were exhausted physically and emotionally, it never ceases to amaze me how life continues to move forward no matter what trials you are going through.  We have no choice but to keep pressing forward.  As one precious life comes to an end, others are just beginning.  I was strongly reminded of this fact of life during this past weekend.  On one side of my family we were grieving over the loss of my grandmother and her absence during the holiday, and yet on the other side we were reliving the excitement of Easter by hiding and coloring eggs with my four year old niece.  Through it all, I feel so blessed to have such wonderful memories of my grandmother that I can cherish forever, and at the same time continue to create new memories with those in my life today.


....Grandma, thanks for all of the stories, the many hours of playing Skip-Bo, Phase 10, Yahtzee, Chicken Foot, the many meals of macaroni and cheese (for some reason it always tasted better when you made it) and pancakes (even though you liked them burnt), and for being the type of wife, mother, and grandmother that God intended for all women to be.  I love you!
